Brad Shorr defines a "word nerd" as:
- Someone who enjoys learning new words.
- Someone who, when confronted by an unfamiliar word while reading, looks up the definition.
- Someone who may keep a list of favorite words.
- Someone who is fascinated by the nuances of language, especially the history of words and the shades of difference in meaning between similar words.

Hi Olivia, thanks for becoming an "official" Word Nerd! You've contributed some great words in the past, and I hope you have more to offer!
I'm definitely a word nerd! A dictionary sits here on my desk at my elbow. And I love the sound of words the way some make your tongue dance like mesotheleioma (a terrible disease) although embarrasingly I don't have a medical dictionary, so I'm not certain of the spelling!
