Loving Someone Unconditionally Doesn't Mean Putting Up With Their Behavior Unconditionally

Don't miss this three minute video of wisdom from Martha Beck. I think I'm going to watch this every day for a while...good stuff. What do you think?

Regarding Criticism and Insults

If you haven't read the comments on my post on enemies from yesterday, please do, and if you'd like, add to the discussion. There is much wisdom there...thank you to every one of you.

Here is something to add to that post.  It is a video from Martha Beck about getting over insults, and it is really provocative. Why do "insults" hurt? What is a helpful model for addressing insults and criticism? Martha answers this in just over two minutes.

What do you think? Wouldn't it be something to take what people say as input, and rather than reacting to it, responding to it internally in a truly appropriate way? This is really clean and healthy, I think.

Anita Roberts Video

I found this video via Patti Digh and Sophia Leadership. It's about the sense that each woman has about what is good for her and right--her intuition--and how we listen to it--but it is about so much more than that. It's a TED talk, and so it is almost 17 minutes, but you will not regret watching it, if you are a woman, I promise you this.

Monday, Monday: LoveHubbie at Play

For some reasons, I always feel wiped out on Mondays, and today is no exception. In case you feel the same way, here are two funny videos of LoveHubbie, taken and snipped from hours of videotapes of his visit with our son D last month. They're short; this first one is only 43 seconds, and the second just over a minute. I hope you enjoy them!

The audio in this first video is especially interesting as you can hear LoveHubbie desperately trying to hold on:

The audio in this second video should be turned down as it gets pretty loud towards the end.

Sacred Life Sunday: Rain

Here is a simple little video of the rain the other night. Just so you know I haven't disappeared from video altogether :) It is just 31 seconds long.

It is also raining today, and it feels like a blessing...

I'm Still Here

I am still here on the planet, just struggling a bit lately with depression. I extended my staycation, and am still staycating.

I saw this on Ken Robert's blog, Mildly Creative, and had to share it with you:

To Brighten Up Your Friday

Enjoy this video via Beverly Keaton Smith, guaranteed to spiff up your end of the week fatigue! It is of a "flashmob" in a train station in Antwerp.

"Flashmobs are used by forward thinking marketers to demonstrate a concept or launch a new brand. They have a guerilla / underground type of feel and if organised well and targeted properly they can really add power to an advertising strategy.

Flemish commercial television station VTM used a creative Flashmob approach to launch their newest reality television program “Op zoek naar Maria” which has been launched to find an actress to play the leading role of Maria in the musical version of The Sound of Music.

At the Central Station in Antwerp. A modern version of The Sound of Music hit “Do Re Mi” came through the speakers and a few started to dance to the music. Gradually, more and more dancers, disguised as commuters, joined them until the entire hall was packed with a dancing crowd."---from the blog Samro

Now, have a Fantastic Friday!

Overwhelmed?

Watch this five minute video. It's kind of scary...the rate of change...our future is not predictable, that's for sure. It won't look like now. Wow.

Friday Night

In this short video, I show you Leah's print that I bought, had framed, and then hung in my bedroom. It's just under 2 minutes long:

Dare, Unforgettable

I found this over at Lunar Musings via Gypsy Sky. This video embodies the feeling (not necessarily the substance) of my word JUMP! for 2009. It is just under 90 seconds long and is another of the wonderful BE BRAVE style videos (like Heather's) that encourages us. You will love it!

This is actually a commercial for Clothing Brand Saga - "Dare" (Take it Easy Films). It is, however, unlike most ads, unforgettable.

UPDATE: I get chills each time I watch this...I've watched it 6X so far, I think.

Those Silly Little Hamsters

What's that on LoveHubbie's nightstand? Just for fun, watch this little video, less than a minute long :)

Muddling Through Monday

It's been a lee-tle quiet here at the happyluau lately. So today, despite my generally sucky mood, I thought I'd make a video for you. It's just under 7 minutes long:

A Foggy Morning in the Pacific Northwest

This little video is 1:15 long. I took it a few days ago when we had some unexpected morning fog. I felt like I was in a fairyland:

Wellness Wednesday: Love

Tonight (just now) I watched this video on Cute Overload and had to share it with you. It's an oldie, and you may have seen it, but just on the chance that you haven't I'm putting it here as well. I'm still crying from watching it. It reminds me of the love I had with my dogs who passed on years and years ago. They still live in my heart, though. I can never forget that special feeling...and this video brought it to life again for me, which is great because sometimes I forget how good it felt. Love is the greatest gift.

You may think I'm a real cynic, probably because I am, but it does seem as though love among humans can come and go. People seem so fickle. Those who say they love you today may change their minds tomorrow. However, animals do seem to know how to love. And they don't forget.

An Upper

I brazenly stole this post and video from Kate I's blog. It just made me feel SO GOOD to watch this, to take five minutes and really watch this one all the way through. I almost cried. Just take five and really watch it, you'll feel better, I promise!

As I continue to deal with depression, I needed this upper, helped me breathe...and smile...
