BE BRAVE: Day 4: First Video Ever

BE BRAVE, otherwise known as "Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You", is the title of the month-long project inspired by Jessie.

I figured out how to make a video with my new Flip Camcorder that I got free from Amazon for doing reviews. I am not a technological or mechanical person, so it was something for me to just do it---figure out how to put it together, do the software thing, make a video, then upload it (after reformatting it). I didn't know how to do any of those things, or even what some of them where, like reformatting a movie!

It was also scary to put it up here after I saw how I really look on video---whoa---just like hearing your voice recorded the first time. It is 4:35 long. I hope you like it! It is somewhat compressed, and thus crudely filmed (it jumps all over the place), but you do sort of go on a virtual walk with me down my driveway :)

And...here's another pictures of the whole rare silversword plant up on the top of the Haleakela volcano:

Thanks, Scott. It was pretty much plug and play or I couldn't have even managed it at all. But finding out how to use MovieMaker and such so that I can do reviews and manipulate what I record is something else. Thanks as always for visiting; I wondered where you went. Miss and love you, O

Thanks, Kate. It is super duper challenging, but worth it so far. Courage is moving forward in the face of fear, right? Good to see you tonight, Love to you, O

OMG, Olivia, you so ROCK. Today I am buried deep in the basement avoiding the things I fear like the plague. Your video is such a huge inspiration to me. "If she can do THAT," I'm thinking," surely I can go upstairs and print off some resumes. Or maybe take a walk to return my library books.

I'm so glad you took the risk Olivia - It was just so wonderful to meet you face to face and hear your voice. Your neighborhood is so peaceful and green, you are so very lucky. Cute bug (if a little large!)- what a scoop!

Kelly, THANK YOU! You inspire me all the time, with this big jump you've taken in your life. Off the cliff.

Hsein,

Good to see you! I made myself laugh when I tried to get the "action shot". I thought "Good grief, this is an action shot around here!!"

Glad you visited, and liked the video...

Peace, O

Patti,

Hey, I thought of that when I made the video. I can't wait to "see" you via video someday. It's different just seeing yourself on video, that's for sure. I found myself asking "Who's that middle aged lady?" and then laughed :)

Glad to share this with you,

Love, O

OH, thanks, Jessie :)

The first day we lived in the house (2003), someone told us we had "the driveway dreams are made of" and I have to agree. I love nature, and walking to get the mail is a daily adventure through the woods.

I am visualizing the hug---THANKS Jessie. Most of all, thank you for this project that is so very scary-good! Love, O

I love your driveway and your hair is fine! Great job! Great challenge! I read your previous post about dealing with people, I think starting slow is your best bet. And if you get scared, just think that at leat you dare and try when you feel comfortable again. Go slow and patient, that's going to be your secret. You are very brave!
I LOVE your driveway!

Hey Olivia, Loved your video. I can relate to the initial "horrors" that go with doing one...I felt the same way when I posted the druthers videos on my blog..Isn't it great just to get that out of the way quickly! I loved yoru video. Your outdoor home looks so beauitiful and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who gets excited about seeing a bug on the driveway! I acknowledge you for taking on the challenge of doing one frightening thing each day...Not sure I would sign up for that on just yet! I like to pull back and "recover" a bit before I go on to the next phase of being out of my comfort zone...Thanks for letting us peer into your heart. Beautiful and warm...truly! Beverly

Thank you for the encouragement, Carmen! So glad I could share my driveway and my life with you in this way. Love to you, O

Thank you Beverly...that's what it felt like, sharing my heart with my blog friends :)

I think that it is wise to process things before moving on, so I'm going to be pacing myself and choosing the size of the challenges, plus varying the type of challenges so that I don't crash and burn. It is a delicate thing to manage I'm finding, but doable.

Thank you as always for the acknowledgment and encouragement!
Blessings and love, Olivia
