BE BRAVE: Day 24: The Book Review Marathon

BE BRAVE, otherwise known as "Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You", is the title of the month-long project inspired by Jessie. I am participating daily for a month. Today is Day 24.

Today I finished up my remaining outstanding task before I would let myself start NaNoWriMo preparations: backed up Amazon reviews. I like doing reviews, but not when they get backed up and I can't remember specifics about the books well enough to do a great review. I end up doing an ordinary or even substandard review. So today was my deadline, and I just did them...actually I'm almost done, but I hope to finish up by midnight. Couldn't believe it even could be done. Now I'm ready to start preparing for NaNoWriMo! Whoo hoo!

This video is less than a minute :)

I'm getting very excited, too. I downloaded the young writers' materials from the kids site (follow the links) and some of the 'worksheets' were very good--food for thought, esp if you get stuck or in a rut. I can email the pdfs to you if you have trouble finding it...

Olivia,

If you saw my bed hair you'd be running and hiding....What books did you review?

You're so cute, you and your slept on hair. I really have to take to heart what you say about 80%. Doing it 80% surely feels better than not doing it at all, which is where I get stuck when I expect perfection from myself. Sigh. Thank you for the inspiration.

Thank you, Karen---WOW! I thought---well I don't have time, I'll go there later, and went there right away so I could answer you, and ended up printing all of the pages out for High School. They are good to get going and to get prepared. I have other exercises I will do to, but I'll do these as well, as they truly get you ready. I'm putting them in a notebook to keep on hand and refer to next month when needed. This is a GREAT TIP!

Kate, Ha, ha...I'd like to see your bedhead on your video!!! You always look VERY put together.

I reviewed:

"No Plot? No Problem" by Chris Baty (the Nanowrimo kit, as I'd already done the book before)

"Living the Low Carb Life: Controlled Carbohydrate Eating for Long-Term Weight Loss" by Jonny Bowden (this book helps you to decide which controlled carb type of eating plan is for you, or to design your own)

2008 Moleskine Large Red Daily Planner - Limited Edition (my daily planner for next year)

"The Fiber35 Diet: Nature's Weight Loss Secret" by Brenda Watson (I just wanted to find out more about fiber, not do the diet)

"Nourishing Your Traditions: An interview with Sally Fallon, founding President of the Weston A. Price Foundation" (this pdf download is similar to the book "Nourishing Traditions", which is what I philosophically believe about food and health)

"A Pocket Guide to the Hawaiian Language" by Albert J. Schutz (I'm still trying to learn Hawaiian from it in my "spare time"...great book though)

"Fit From Within : 101 Simple Secrets to Change Your Body and Your Life - Starting Today and Lasting Forever" by Victoria Moran (fine, but not fantastic, a good daily meditation book)

"Livin' La Vida Low-carb: My Journey from Flabby Fat to Sensationally Skinny in One Year"
by Jimmy Moore (Extremely motivational for low carb eating---I loved it!

Phew! Can you see why I haven't had time to get over to Shelfari yet, Kate?

So many books, so little time...

Luv,

O

Thanks, Kelly. It was HARD to do this, especially when showing them to LoveHubbie, who thought they were terrible. He couldn't understand how I could put videos with obvious errors in them out there. I tried to explain to him that---hey, they will help people decide whether or not to buy the book, and that's all I care about. I need to finish up and get on to other things. They are definitely "good enough".

I don't think I've ever done this before. No matter what I do, I always attempt to do it with "excellence", and important buzz word for me, and life theme. IT DROVE ME CRAZY! Some things are important enough to do well and to be 100%, but time is so limited, and activities are limited, and I have to decide to what I will truly devote myself with perfect passion. It is physically impossible to do everything with perfect passion.

That's how I ended up with chronic fatigue syndrome for over a decade!

This was a giant step for me :)

You can do it, too! Try it, it's so much fun to do something "average"!

Love,

O

ok...i just love that little giggle at the end of this video. heehee:) made me laugh right along with you!

on a more serious note, i totally agree with you about the way it is getting easier to just do things. i am starting to feel a very serious transformation. damn! can you feel it too? stupid question. i know you do also. ;)

Jessie, indeed, it is SO amazing! I have a completely different attitude to things that I fear, even now. I think that the best way to say it is that I'm no longer afraid of things that I "fear". I can just do them anyway. It has opened up my life, and I don't yet really see the limits! Serious blessings, O
