BE BRAVE: Day 7: The Hard Work

BE BRAVE, otherwise known as "Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You", is the title of the month-long project inspired by Jessie. I am participating daily for a month. Today is Day 7.

Today I didn't really do anything new per se that was scary. Just persevering through the whole day doing what I'd committed myself to doing has been enough for me, and did certainly involve some bravery:

1) Not eating any sugar or refined carbohydrates.
2) Not drinking any alcohol.
3) Getting 8 hours of sleep.

I woke up with a migraine, and I'm sure I'm just getting used to these newer healthier behaviors. It was much easier to talk about it and make a video of it than to do it.

I also had a big conflict in a relationship, and stood up for myself again, which is now feeling like a default choice instead of some unusual scary thing that I have to rise up to do. I like that.

I didn't expect today to be a walk in the park and it wasn't. But that's ok. I do feel proud of myself, and I appreciate everyone's support, which really encouraged me today and helped to get me through.

Thank you all for being AMAZING!

Well you are the amazing one Olivia. You are tackling quite a lot of shift and change and so I guess a migraine is sort of understandable. Do you know the childs pose? The one where you lie on the floor knees tucked in, arms stretched out on the floor in front of you, head resting on the floor? (As if you're praying to Allah :)) This is great for headaches accompanied by some nice slow breathing. I can stay in this pose for ages, it's a nice easy one too.

Hi, Patti, Thank you :) Yes, I DO know child's pose and will try that for a migraines. It sounds like it would be very comforting.

I know I should expect this. I just have to keep repeating "You can do this!" as it's the first few days that are the hardest, IMHO.

Thank you for your support!!

Much love, O

Ah, 3 things that I would like to focus on as well. Although, I don't know about the alcohol! LOL. Seriously, though, I like your approach to this Be Brave. I look forward to continuing to be inspired by you.

Annie, You know, the alcohol was a big deal for me because I enjoy it so much. I never want to be able to NEVER enjoy it because I've become dependent on it. Most places that LoveHubbie and I go to are rife with people drinking several drinks+++ and I have found myself easily getting used to this lifestyle, to the detriment of my energy level and more. It's hard to realize sometimes all of the ways alcohol affects me.

So doing without it for a while makes me feel soooo good. I know that I can choose to drink again at any time, but I find myself not wanting to, because it feels so good not to.

Today I was grocery shopping and I didn't buy wine and sort of felt a little lost. So this bothered me, and I thought that I just didn't want wine to be that important.

Well, you gave me a chance to think through more of my feelings about this, Annie.

It is SO interesting that we have so many of the same issues and interests, isn't it :)

Thank you for YOUR inspiration!

Love, O

Yes, you are right, Jessie. My migraine went away but it's back again today. These first few days of such a detoxing diet are bound to be hard.

Yes, I can't even imagine how far I could take this. But I want to (imagine, that is). I'll give that a try :)

More love, blessings, and gratitude,

O
