This is exactly how I was feeling about 2009 when it rolled in!!!
Now I am changing the perspective slowly - I am growing big and looking down at a small 2009, making me the significant thing, not the other way around !
Have work to do..."release" is my word...that is hard but do-able in each moment...it makes things easy somehow, trusting and releasing it all to the universe...

That sounds like a great way to visualize it, Kim, and much more in touch with reality.
I agree with you that releasing makes things easier because there is someone/someplace to release TO; we are not in this alone.
