BE BRAVE: Day 7: Permission

Today I was so inspired by Leah's post. I decided to revise the way I'm doing the BE BRAVE challenge to more fit the way I operate best. Instead of doing something every day for a month for 30 days straight---which is intense and challenging and hard-driving---things that all appeal to me, I've decided that I would grow more this time (Season Two, my second time through) by doing things differently. I'm giving myself permission!

Instead of being intense, challenging, and hard-driving, I'm going to do BE BRAVE s-l-o-w-l-y, gently, and with time between BE BRAVE actions to integrate, at whatever pace works best for me. I love the idea of garnering my energy first, then taking a BE BRAVE action, then resting and integrating. It sounds luscious, and removes the pressure and striving from the way I was doing it. Even late at night, as I'm tired, I'm much more excited about it.

I know, I know, I should have seen this before, but I'm just relieved to see it now. Rereading the comments you all left have inspired me that this is the right path for me.

Today I had a busy day. I made broiled figs with ricotta cheese for brunch, then LoveHubbie and I went to the Farmer's Market for more fresh fruit. We got apricots, peaches, and cherries.

We continued on to Costco, where I got some shelves for all of my cluttered art stuff. It had expanded beyond my studio into the tv/guest room and into piles and piles in the back of the office. So just to get one thing to add to a collage would involve me rooting through all of these piles. So now it's late and I'm tired but I can do my art again now.

This video is nice and short, 1:40:

Dear Chani, Kate, Leah, and Kelly,

Ah, yes, and I hope that I stick with it. Glad you gals like the shelves. I'll show you my art in a future "BE BRAVE" action :)

Thanks for the comments, for the support, it means more than you know,

Oh dear Olivia, how wonderful to get that organization going. Can you come here please! PLEASE!! I am soooo lost. Since my daughter and family moved in we are on top of each other. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love having them close by and to see my grandson every day is a blessing! But my craft room, is their bedroom now. So I've moved most of my supplies to my dining room so I can have access to working as I need/want to. But since finishing up Spring craft season, and starting an Etsy page, and having to figure out the Fall craft season, I'm in a weird mess of confusion constantly. Poor organization in a very tiny house. A bungalow, with 1 bathroom and 3 bedrooms, for SIX people. Oh you have no idea.....
Maybe if I come back here enough you'll inspire me to get moving with these projects!!
Thanks for always sharing neat things about your world. :)

Mary,

Ok, so let's just be clear---I think I'd have a nervous breakdown in your situation! I'm such a loner and introvert. Many, many people in a small space...to be continuing to create, you're doing BETTER than great! I'm sure there will be time for organization later. Right now is the time for everybody to enjoy each other and for you to be glad that you are able to keep creating!

I'm so glad that I inspire you, and please, please keep coming back!!

Love, O

Those are some cool shelves, O! I'm going to have to check out our local Costco and see if they carry anything like them.

I have a couple of similarly sized shelf units, but they are the old design: really flimsy sheet metal for the shelves. I need more shelves so I can organize my space better, and the ones you got are marvelous! I love the open design with the wire shelves.

Congratulations on an organizational task fully and beautifully accomplished!

Thanks, Rick! I'll bet your Costco has them. They are in the industrial/tools section, not the furniture section. You have to put them together, though...Peace and passion, O

You better watch out, I may just take you up on that!

I am going to make some type of personal or portable altar. I have no idea what yet. I like that I don't know though. It's going to be all a big series for "Creating in the Midst" with Melba that I'm so behind on. It's going to "emerge", I guess! I'm glad you like them. I've been saving things that open like that for almost a year, and I didn't know why. Now I do.

Yes, they are drying and lying fallow waiting for my ideas to pop!

Thanks, Jessie...yes, I did indeed start making videos during BB1! It was cool learning to add music. I'd like to learn to do much more, but not sure how at this point. People with Macs (like Suzi Blu) can do so much more naturally. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Peace, and great ideas, peppered with gratitude,

O
