Wellness Wednesday: I Lost Some Weight

Well, I'm very happy to report that I have finished the diet I've been on since November 1st--the homeopathic hcg diet--which is actually more of a semi-fast and a detox than a diet. I lost 27.4 pounds in 44 days, so I'm very happy with my results. I also felt terrific once I got used to it. I've gone down several sizes and feel energetic and happy.

I used the semi-fasting and the detox as a time to work really hard on various emotional issues that have affected my being overweight. I did this by journaling, reading (including Marianne Williamson's "A Course in Weight Loss"), and especially by "tapping" using fasterEFT, a type of emotional acupressure that is a combination of regular EFT, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and hypnosis.

If anyone is interested in finding out more, I do have a private blog that you are welcome to read if I know you, i.e., if you are one of my regular blog readers. There's not much about the diet itself on there as far as instructions and such, just extreme detail about me and my daily eating and feelings, following the diet, and various personal issues. I blogged every day I was on the diet and will continue to blog about maintenance, just not daily. Email me or comment if you're interested.

I'll now be on a maintenance plan that I've customized to fit my needs (basically a whole foods healthy lower glycemic diet) for several months. Then in the spring (probably March) I'll go on it for a second round. I won't lose as much, but since I'm still quite overweight it will make a difference. I'm hoping to be able to maintain the weight loss until then; it will be a learning process, I'm sure.

Now that I'm not blogging on my diet blog as often I hope to be more available to blog here, so you'll be seeing me around a bit more!

Wow. This is wonderful. I'm interested to know what you thought about Marianne Williamson's book. It's a purchase I've considered making. I'm glad this process went well for you.

Lori-Lyn, I really love "A Course in Weight Loss". It is quite metaphysical which I like and you will do (but of course not everyone will). It is one of the best books of its type and well, well, well worth the money. I am on Lesson 17/21. I think you will greatly enjoy it. If you do work with it, let me know what you think, Lori-Lyn, ok? xoO

I'm so very happy for you Olivia and you must feel thrilled about it too. I know from experience how weight issues are about so much more than just food in/food out! It's an inner journey through a mine field of emotions.
Congratulations on navigating your way through!

Thanks, kate. I feel as though I am "repatterning". That's a great word for it. And it's fast-fast-fast, just like the weight loss. Mainly because I'm devoting so much time and effort to it; it's been a huge priority.

Peace and love to you, kate, xoO

Thank you Kelly, and thanks for witnessing my journey as well. Knowing that I had accountability and support from people I trusted made ALL the difference. Peace and love to you, O

I guess I didn't catch there was a "A Course in Weight Loss" by Marianne Williamson. Do you recommend that book?

I have been following your other blog but didn't realize you were working with this book.

Oh... just read your response to Lori-Lyn.... I'll have to look to see if Borders carry it.

It's Thursday, it's snowy and can you believe I would love to snuggle up and take a nap, but alas at work... so off to work I go.

Thanks Sabrina! The final impetus was getting caught in the bus stile in Salvador. That was the last straw! Mark also got caught and had nightmares about it. Brazilians are not as obese as Americans! Thanks you, my dear, xoO

Thank you too, Queen of the Castle--Kate! xoO

Yes, EB, and thank you too for witnessing my journey. I do highly recommend Marianne Williamson's new book if you are metaphysically oriented. Otherwise you will not "get" it. I was talking to my husband about it and he thought things like "being in your body" were "mumbo jumbo...where else would I be?" and could not understand it no matter how I tried to explain it. It is a very metaphysical book from the perspective of ACIM and is excellent.

It was very helpful to me (and still is) in my weight loss adventure. But for me it also took: the support of having to blog about my day (accountability) and of feedback, the tapping (a little bit at first and now a lot) and the homeopathic drops and strict protocol. All of these worked together and any one alone would have been very nice but not sufficient.

I have tried all of the above many times with no results. I own most of the best weight loss books. I have incredibly supportive online friends and have tried to lose weight on my blog before (remember Transformational Weight Loss, a wonderful thing?). I have tried many, many other diets, and nothing has even worked more than a few pounds. So I do believe it was everything together.

Plus getting caught in the bus turnstile in Brazil. And barely fitting in the plane seats. Knowing I was almost "too fat to fly". Being pre-diabetic. And not fitting into my 2X (size 20W-22W) clothes!

I think I am going to blog this long comment, as I think it will help people understand.

Thanks, EB! xoO
