Sacred Life Sunday: Simplicity, Simple Things

Today has been such a simple, lovely day so far. I have really enjoyed almost basking in the simplicity. So here is a video about my day. I should add a caveat that I noticed as I was editing it that I put my artwork (and occasionally myself) down fairly frequently, so this was a good reminder to me not to do that---either in my head or out loud---but to encourage myself more... Even so, I wanted to share it with you as it enables you to join me in my happy---yes, happy (really)---day!

The video is 8:19 long:

I love your happy, pink nodding thing (for want of a better word!)

Your art work really is good Olivia, thank you for sharing. I'm inspired to make some bookmarks now, we're always looking for one.

Simplicity IS happiness making - wishing you more of the same...

Thanks, Patti! It's called a Sunshine Peace Buddy. It just sits there and nods as long as there is light. Then it is quiet.

Thank you for the comments on my artwork, too. It is SO hard for me to share it. I love making bookmarks, and I use them too. That one was so pretty...not perfect, but pretty :)

I wish you much of the same---simple joys!

Love,

O

I really like the "dotting". Being a totally not-artistic person, I get ideas that way. :)

Olivia, I am really glad you shared your art. It is beautiful! You look so good. Every time I see you, you look even more relaxed than the last time.

I am having a crappy couple of days, but coming here and seeing this video is uplifting.

Sunshine Peace Buddy is AWESOME! I just loved how during the video we'd get to see him again and again. Neat!
Thanks for sharing your artwork. I really liked the dotting designs on glass but I can understand the time that must have taken, and the smells.
I have sooooo much paper and use it to make greeting cards but have also done bookmarks. Yours reminded me that I have none made at the moment and with holiday craft fairs coming up, they may make good stocking stuffers. I better get busy!

Wow - those dotting pieces are really gorgeous, Olivia! And that little pink guy. I need one of those in the background nodding approval at me all day! How fabulous. Thanks for sharing your art and yourself with us. Hey, I could use your input at the church. www.bigskychurch.wordpress.com. Thanks!

Olivia, you have so much going on! I love the recent quotes--this whole concept of 'consumerism' becomes even more of a dilemma now that I have kids--

Hope every day is a good day for you!

O--It's good to see you just enjoying being you, showing us your art, showing us around your house to see the plants and stuff.

The pink guy is a reminder to me that it is my fervent belief that we can actually improve our mood by the simple, repeated nodding of our heads in the same gentle manner as sunshine peace buddy! The good news for us is, we can do it even if there is not enough light to get peace buddy going.

Chani,

I'm so glad you like it...I wonder if there isn't something creative you do besides write, though? Or did? With yarn? Or fabric? I see you as very creative, Chani...what do you think?

Kelly,

I'm so glad you felt uplifted. And I'm sorry that you're having some crappy days...it sounds like things may be getting better? I always find moving disconcerting---it's change!

I keep feeling like I look like I'm on a downhill slide to vacation :)

Rick,

Ha, ha! You are absolutely right! That's a great exercise to do to self-encourage, isn't it? It just feels good :)

Tonight I gave everyone just a quick kiss and a hug in my comment to them.

One of the things I love to do is to give each person a "wish" or a "blessing"...say "love" or "peace" or something else that I want to leave them with or to have in their day. I think of you and then think of what I want for you. Sometimes, like tonight, it's just a quick expression of love and gratitude for your comment and for you caring enough to leave it, encouraging me.

...Just in case you ever wondered about why I do this :)

xo,

O
