Sacred Life Sunday: Silly Fun

Today, Sacred Life Sunday, I rode a bicycle alone for the first time in 36 years or so.

Well, actually LoveHubbie and I got a tandem about 8 years ago, but the weight capacity of the bike was 400 pounds, so we still have it but are holding off until our combined weights go below that again. Also, when I rode the tandem I never steered or really did too much except sit in the second seat and pedal hard. LoveHubbie would steer and stop and decide which way to go. In a similar way, our marriage has evolved, and it is much more apropos for us to each have our own bikes that we can ride together, but each be responsible for everything having to do with running it.

This is a very, very silly video of our first ever bike ride. It was SO much fun! We came home from the bike store and I ran in and got my video camera and viola---here you have it!

The impetus for us getting the bikes was Lori-Lyn. Ever since she shared her pictures, it looked like something I'd really want to do.

OMG! You make me laugh! My husband had to come and check on me and ask me what was so funny! :)-

btw, I will always wonder what mystery lies beyond your driveway! then again, the magical qualities of your place are so completely contained in your own driveway, I'm not sure I want or need to know what's beyond!

heehee! I love your videos. :)

Hee hee, bikies! I love my bikie too. What a great decision, Olivia. I think you are really on the right track with simple measures like this one...getting on a bike. Plus oh what whimsical, simple fun!!!

Wow! That was my first Omax video viewing experience, and while I have yet to see it on a 40-foot screen, even on my PC it looks like big fun!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't own a bike. Maybe someday...

Thanks for sharing, O!

In such a small congested area of NJ, we don't have many places to ride so I guess the exercise bike in the basement will have to do. How wonderful that you have that beauty surrounding you. You and lovehubbie are going to have alot of fun! Good for you. :)

Hi, Olivia. I just visited your blog for the first time and I must say, your laugh is infectious! Loved the silly bike video, your commentary and silly hubbie. And what a beautiful driveway. Thanks for sharing this.

I also enjoyed the followup entry about the after-effects of this bike-riding. ;-)

Oh my gosh... your driveway is amazing... I mean... do you live in a forest?

I really can't imagine my 52 year old wide butt on a narrow bicycle seat... I mean... at first you don't notice the incredible amount of pressure but then it hits you.

But.. I must admit... riding a bicycle does seem like a lot of fun.

Thanks for sharing!

Angie,

Thank you, yes I live in a forest...with a few houses...and lots of new construction encroaching closer and closer and closer :)

My 51 year old wide butt did have fun but paid the price. Still, I look forward to more fun soon...but still not yet!

Welcome to the happyluau,

Olivia
