Miss Porcupine

This video is 7:03 long. I noticed that if I waited for it to upload on the hotel Internet system, which is rather slow, I could play it in its entirety without any stalling. I shamelessly copied the idea from Suzi Blu. I hope you like it! It's my attempt today to be creative for Leah's Creative Every Day 2008 Challenge today. If you're not caught up on my blog, you might want to read the last few blog posts about Breathing in Bellevue so that you understand the references in the video.

Oh, that was really clever! Love how you put that together!

Where did you get the cup? :)

Olivia said...

Thanks Chani :) It really did help me to have some fun and transmute (thanks, Patti) some of that negative energy hanging over into postive energy.

I got the cup across the street from my hotel at a store called "Paper Source".

Have a restful and relaxing weekend, Love,
O

Hi Olivia,
maybe my favorite O-TV broadcast ever. Doing some Landmark stuff myself, your experience resonates with me. This approach of "Follow our rules and you'll get it (whatever it is). If you don't get it, you haven't followed the rules." might have good intention behind but lacks some empathy and understanding. But that's just my ego speaking of course :-)
Anyway, like how you deal with it. Have a nice weekend with Mrs Porcupine and hope your knee gets better soon.
Best wishes from Germany, Jens

Olivia,

This was great! What a great way to come to terms with something. It makes me think about a broken relationship of mine. I thought I let it go but it is in my face this weekend. Maybe I need a puppet too!

Jens,

Hello and welcome to the happyluau! I'm glad you liked this...

Yes, AOL was a lot like est, but with a nasty flair. est was kinder, gentler...really. This had an edge to it that was scary. I always felt safe with est (oddly). Not so here. But maybe it's that I've changed; after all it's almost 30 years later.

Welcome, Jens, and please come back. I love Germany; my family lived in Wurzburg for several years and I visited them 3-4 times.

Blessings to you,
Olivia

Kate, That would be fun; I bet you'd be good at it. It was a challenge to me, because the puppetry involves a letting go and a sense of play that doesn't come naturally to me. I did enjoy it a lot, and I'll bet you would do. It would be fun to see what kind of animal you'd be, too.

Amazon has a slew of puppets for reasonable prices. If you just put in "puppets" you'll see.

Have fun, and thanks :)

Peace,

O

Hi there -- I just wanted to thank you for posting your experiences with the Art of Living seminar. It's the kind of thing that would have attracted me, but now I know better, thanks to you!! Kudos to you for giving it a good try, too -- I was really impressed by your creative modifications (sitting against the wall, earplugs, etc.).

Good job!

Thanks so much for your encouragement, anonymous. I really did try. If it had felt good at all I probably would have kept it up. But it didn't. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone under any circumstances. In fact I would encourage people to stay away!

Thanks again and many blessings,

Olivia

Olivia, I just love what you did here - taking the experience and working with the different parts of yourself in the video - wonderfully creative way of working through the experience. And Ms. Porcupine is such a wonderful alter-ego for you! Kudos on your courage in making and posting this, too!

Thank you Imelda! It was a big stepping out for me and I appreciate your kind words and encouragment :)
Peace today, O

Miss Porcupine and the Ding Dongs, indeed!

What a great way to engage in self-talk, Olivia! I'll bet that the sense of playfulness which is brought to the fore would also make the talk all that more productive, since your inner child would likely to be present.

The best part was all the affection you were showing Miss Porcupine through the entire time. That, too, is bound to make her more comfortable and able to talk about difficult stuff...like all the ding dongs.

My wife uses a technique called non-dominant-hand writing. I have tried it, and it really does seem to get feelings out which you may not be conscious of. All you do is get blank pages (no lines--blank like copy paper--allows for thoughts to flow without boundaries) and start writing in big letters using the hand you normally don't write with. It works for me!

Great video!

If you suffer from depression you might check with a Naturopathic
Doctor and see if you have an overgrowth of yeast in your body.

I suffered for year's and I prayed and ask God to help me find out what was wrong me. After I prayed that prayer my first thought was to go see a Naturopath. I checked around and was given a name of one. She did a some tests asked a lot of questions and told me I had Candidiasis and thought I had it since I was a child. The two sypmtons I had when I was a child is that I craved sweets and had floaters in front of my eyes. I didn't go to the Naturopath for depression. I went because I was having a hard time breathing and I was weak. I thought my FMS was getting worse. Well I was put on a Candidia diet for 3 months and given herbs to kill off the overgrowth of yeast. What happend as a result was not only the floaters and the cravings for sweets stopped, but I stopped being depressed and a host of other things that were going on with my body I stop having problems with. Even PMS was gone.
I have had a lot of not so good things that happened in my life, too. Those things stopped bothering me also.
Sometimes we need to cleanse our bodies out in order for our minds to think more clearly.
I was watching a show on PBS about the brain by Dr. Daniel Amen. That was good. A lot of stuff effects our brains.
I have a spit test on my blog list. It might be a starting point.

I'll put you on prayer list on my blog!!!

God Bless Your Mind, Health and Creative Life!!!

Love your dimples and you
have a very sweet voice and
cute porcupine too!

Rick,

That was interesting that you picked up on the affection, because I didn't realize that I was doing that. It's probably what I needed, too, but I didn't realize it. Such processes are amazing, aren't they?

I have tried that before, and like it too (the non-dominant hand).

All of these things are helpful in healing, and I think what's most helpful is that we do SOMETHING and just not suffer from what we've been through.

Thanks so much as always, Rick

Blessings and peace,

O

Dear Flassie,

Welcome to the happyluau! Thank you for your comment. I am familiar with yeast overgrowth and agree that we need to address our bodies' physiological needs as a first line in order to recover from depression! Thank you for adding me to your prayer list.

I too taped Dr. Amen's show on PBS and am listening to it bit by bit. It's great. I also ordered his main book from Amazon to stay up to date with current depression research.

I didn't know anyone could see my dimples anymore---they were very prominent when I was a little girl. I'm glad you liked them and Miss Porcupine, too.

Thanks again visiting and please come back soon,

Blessings,

Olivia

That was wonderful, Olivia!

I think it was worth every penny spent because you learned something huge and important about unhealthy boundries and knowing what DOES NOT work for your well being. Be gentle with yourself and know that this experience brought you more empowerment with yourself!

i love miss porcupine!! she does look a lot like you and i loved hearing your conversation. very creative way of healing.

i often have that feeling of i should know better by now. but really, it's just wonderful that you *did* know and you *did* listen to your higher self and you *did* do what was best for you. so don't beat yourself up for not knowing it sooner. with every experience we learn more.

Thank you Jane and Leah,

You are absolutely right. I need to be gentle with myself and be grateful for my lessons, not judge them or myself right now.

Thank you both for watching and commenting, and for your encouragement, Love, O
