Where's Olivia?

I have been working on finishing my book on Moku`ula, and then I actually did just that on Friday, can you believe it? And I may already have an editor. I'm submitting my manuscript to her Monday for her to evaluate to see. I need someone very familiar with the Hawaiian language as well as Mauian history. I decided to pick the very best person I could find. So I am honored that she is willing to consider me.

So I've been working, working, working, like grad school all over again. But I'm done.

I will be posting more here...so stay tuned.

I've been missing you. Glad you are done with the book! I've never written a book before. What happens now. If you get an editor, does that involve changing things based on that editor's feedback? Or does the editor do the changes with your approval? One of my favourite websites is Query Shark, but that is only for works of fiction.

O this is amazing news!! Well done! This is only the beginning I suppose. As Kelly says, it's the editing phase now, time to add some polish. Good luck with it all and keep us posted. Missed your presence her too BTW!

Thank you everyone! I am so excited.

The potential editor first has to accept my book as a project. I picked the best person I could find, a woman who has written books on Maui history, many articles, and who has previously written about Moku`ula. She has also won awards for her work. She is reading my manuscript even now to see if she will take it on.

Then if she does, she will edit it (I believe it's "copy edit") and check facts as well as correct spelling, grammar, usage. She will also tell me if she thinks it can be published and where.

I'll let her do whatever she wants to it. I believe I have approval, but in advance, I'll go with anything she suggests!

Thank you for all of your support, everyone. I have relied on it to work on and to finish this book. Even though I work alone, I've felt you all cheering for me.

Many thanks,

O
