Sacred Life Sunday: Who Are You, Really?

As I'm envisioning having my own business, I am extremely focused on integrity and on being authentic.

This is from Seth Godin's blog called, "What You Say, What You Do, and Who You Are":

"We no longer care what you say.

We care a great deal about what you do.

If you charge for hand raking but use a leaf blower when the client isn't home
If you sneak into an exercise class because you were on the wait list and it isn't fair cause you never get a bike
If you snicker behind the boss's back
If you don't pay attention in meetings
If you argue with a customer instead of delighting them
If you copy work and pass it off as your own
If you shade the truth a little
If you lobby to preserve the unsustainable status quo
If you network to get, not to give
If you do as little as you can get away with

...then we already know who you are."---Seth Godin

Doesn't this say it so well and make you think? It's where we come from that makes such a difference in how we interact with others, isn't it?...it's who we truly are.

Welcome back, Olivia ! It feels nice to have your energy back in the mix.

Imagine a world where every business worked this way ? It would surely eliminate most of our world concerns and what a place to work !

Good luck to you in your pioneer endeavors !

So true!

I am reminded of a mobile phone store salesman, who quoted me an items purchase price, at "around $90". After agreeing to the sale, it turned out that in fact the cost was $99.95, which to me, was more like "around $100".

I will never go back to that store. It wasn't about the money, it was about the lack of integrity in his dealings, however small the anomaly may have been. Where else might he have been cutting corners honesty-wise?

Thank you so much, Kim. Yes, indeed it would! It reminds me of the saying that character is what you do when no one is looking or no one will know. It is good to be back in touch, my queen :) Blessings and love, O

Patti,
I agree with you. Trust is what is at issue here, and to fudge on such a small thing, or to be even just careless about a small thing unfortunately totally blows TRUST which is so much more important than anything! This is a great example, Patti. Peace and love, O

I've always thought that when you come from the mindset of service, the rest takes care of itself. When you honestly believe in your product and how it will serve people, it sells itself. People will come to *you* to hear about it.

These particular things.. well... mindfulness of a sort. A lot of that is a passive-aggressive way for oppressed employees to somehow reclaim their autonomy.

Integrity = authenticity.

I hear you and agree Chani.

I have been thinking about your equation and I agree with it as well. I wonder about people who do not have integrity, however; are they being authentic---who they really are, true to their values? I'm not sure. I think that they may be taken over by fear or greed or powerlessness or some negative-type feeling that overtakes their held value. Something to think about. Hmmm.

Love and attraction (especially for the right car),
