My Time In Maui

This video is 3:30 and tells you what being in Maui meant to me. It's not what you might think!

Aloha from Maui

Actually, I'm back...I've been back for almost 10 days, but I haven't made the transition yet, odd as this may seem. Here is a 17 second video of me saying "Aloha" to you while swimming in the ocean (yes, with my hat and glasses on too)!

It's LoveHubbie's voice on the video and mine too, wishing you much Aloha!

On Vacation 2008

I am officially on vacation. I'm going to bed this afternoon and leaving in the wee hours of the morning. I wanted to say a fond good bye to you---you'll be in my heart as I relax and play on Maui.

I didn't respond to your comments as I usually do but I read each one...thank you so very much for them. I will see you again on the 23rd or so.

If you'd like to see me before then, you may just be able to:
Here at the property webcam! I 'll wave :)

Aloha to each and every one of you,
O

Wellness Wednesday: Play

It's early in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and I'm thinking about how I want to spend the day. I'm ever so seriously getting ready for vacation---scurrying around trying to finish up every last little thing as though I'm going away for good instead of just for two weeks---and thought that introducing play into my day would make it more enjoyable. So I'm going to do just that, and then come back tonight and share with you how I did just that.

UPDATE: Well, today I had great fun (really!) getting my hair fixed up with my friend L. And I spoke to my friend S. about AOH (The Ascent of Humanity) and had a fantastic conversation. And now I'm going to cook my dinner, slowly, and then savor each bite. I also blew off some work I technically should have done, which I virtually never, ever do. And I'm going to bed early because the flu seems to be coming back for a second round perhaps. Not too much play, but close enough for me.

Actually I think I'm holding back for vacation. I'm tired (I only slept 4 hours last night), and I'm sick...and playful for me today is treating myself well and going to sleep early. So that I can pack tomorrow, do last minute errands, and then TAKE OFF FOR MAUI!

I'll do playful better when I've had my vacation...I promise :)

Sacred Life Sunday: Someone to Give To

If, by some wonderful chance, you are with someone today to whom you can give, and who will receive your gifts---whatever they might be---with love, knowing they come from your heart, then be grateful. It is a great honor in life to give, and to see your gift received, and to feel the joy it brings. You feel appreciated. You feel loved. Not everyone gets to experience this, let alone on a daily basis. If you are one of those fortunate, blessed ones, then rejoice. It is a vital part of why we are here on earth.

Many people feel an ache, a sense of deep loneliness, because they think no one really cares what they have to give. Or perhaps they believe no one notices that their contribution comes uniquely from them as a precious gift. Or perhaps they feel invisible, like a fungible worker---anyone could be caring for those they serve. Maybe they are alone, and no one is physically there at all. Alternatively, many people may be physically present, but their contribution is rejected or ridiculed---and they feel like they are being rejected or ridiculed.

Today it is hard for me to understand why people throw away love, refuse gifts, reject givers, and toss their gifts without recognizing them as such. It seems that some people want to stay ensconced in pain and aloneness and hatred and isolation. This makes me very, very sad.

Sometimes it seems like---at least for these wounded souls---that hatred and fear are winning over love. I grieve because I want love to always win. And I don't understand why it doesn't.
